Children gathered under the trees for the Lilongwe Children’s Rally, May 3014.
Part of SU’s ministry to children is to run Saturday rallys, where a number of schools will gather together for a joint meeting. These gatherings happen on a regular basis and normally have a high turnout. The most recent rally in Lilongwe was held on Saturday (31 May), close to the SU Offices in Lilongwe City Centre.
Due to the issues surrounding the elections and the announcing of the winner of the presidential vote, the turnout was quite low. Around 110 children from 6 schools congregated at Lingadzi Primary School in Area 18 for a day of singing, scripture memory, dramas and Bible teaching. The various activities were led by teachers and SU staff members.

The children gathered under trees and the programme was stopped every 20 minutes so that the children could move to new areas of shade as the sun made its journey across the sky. The children fully engaged with all the activities and went home singing the choruses and reciting the scripture verses they had learned during the day.
The key to these rallys is the follow-up that will happen in schools as the SU Bible Clubs continue to meet and play their part in the discipling of these young lives. They will also meet again at the winter camp at the end of July.

Please pray for Christian teachers in schools as they continue to lead in Bible Clubs through to the end of the academic year. Pray that over the winter holidays (July/August) they will get time to rest and will be ready for the new year of school and Bible Club in September.
